BMW X1 Sunroof Shattered Suddenly and Injured Us on the Road



In December 2025, I purchased a BMW X1. On April 12, 2026, while driving on the Izmir Ring Road, the sunroof suddenly exploded and shattered glass all over us. We were in complete shock at that moment. Glass fragments got everywhere, and we suffered cuts on our bodies.
Immediately after the incident, I called the authorized service center. Despite the seriousness of the emergency, I was told that this was considered user error and that no tow truck would be sent. I truly could not believe that a brand like BMW would so easily dismiss such a life-threatening incident as user error and refuse to provide support. I was forced to leave the vehicle at Özgörkey using the tow service from my insurance provider.
I do not accept Borusan and BMW customer service placing responsibility on the customer when I had no fault in what happened. The fact that the sunroof exploded while the vehicle was in motion put our safety at serious risk and caused us physical harm. I request full compensation for the damage I suffered, a detailed inspection of the vehicle, and a written explanation of the results. I also expect BMW to properly address and compensate for the hardship I experienced during this process.
