I purchased an ASUS TUF 550M-Plus Gaming Wi-Fi 2 motherboard from Amazon, and it has been a series of problems. After the initial repair, where the GPU was falsely diagnosed, the authorized ASUS service returned the motherboard after a reset. Soon after, the BIOS light illuminated, and further inspection revealed a CPU malfunction, damaging my Ryzen 7 5800X processor.
Upon replacing it with a Ryzen 7 5700X, the system worked briefly before refusing to start one day. Investigation uncovered a short circuit in the CPU power cable slot. Sending it back for repair, ASUS claimed foreign material damage, presented a dubious photo, and demanded a fee higher than the product's cost for repairs.
As a seasoned electrical technician in a reputable beverage company, I can attest that the alleged foreign material, Arctic-mx4 thermal paste, is non-conductive and couldn't cause any damage. My PC is meticulously maintained, making it impossible for foreign substances to enter. Despite my pleas for a replacement, ASUS sent back the faulty motherboard, aggravating my frustration.
This ordeal has shattered my perception of ASUS, and I've since found a reliable alternative. ASUS's lack of accountability and customer care has left me out of pocket and with a dysfunctional system. I seek resolution for the inconvenience caused.
