Amazon Delivery Delay Caused Travel Costs and Missed Trip
I placed an order on Amazon that was supposed to arrive on Thursday, 8/6/26, specifically so I would have everything I needed to pack for a trip I was leaving for on Sunday. The order included essential items for my travel such as luggage, power sources, pet supplies and a flashlight, so the delivery date was important to me when I made the purchase. Despite this, the promised delivery kept shifting. On Friday I was told the order was on its way. On Saturday I was told it would arrive by the end of the day, so I stayed up until midnight waiting, but nothing arrived. I then contacted customer service again and, after previously being told it would come that evening, I was suddenly told it would instead arrive on Sunday, 8/9/26, between 4 a.m. and 6 a.m. Because I did not receive the items when promised, I had to delay my trip and incurred approximately $100 in additional food and lodging costs. On top of this financial loss, the overall handling of the issue felt extremely frustrating and impersonal, as the responses I received from customer service clearly seemed AI-generated and not truly responsive to what I was explaining. When I finally reached a supervisor, they took about 20 minutes only to ask if I wanted to cancel the order, acknowledged that I should be appropriately compensated, and then offered just a $30 credit, which does not come close to covering my out-of-pocket costs or the time and stress involved. To make matters worse, the supervisor then ended the chat without actually applying the $30 credit they had offered. I am requesting that Amazon properly acknowledge this experience and provide compensation that reasonably reflects my additional expenses of around $100 and the severe inconvenience caused by the repeated broken delivery promises and poor customer service.
