Alibaba Trade Assurance Failure! Unhelpful Seller, and Unexpected Costs

On January 13, 2024, I purchased a tablet from Alibaba with order number 199058534001028684 for $618. Despite buying the product with trade assurance, it arrived in Istanbul on February 1, 2024, without any communication from the seller. I continuously tried to contact the seller for updates on my order. Later, I was informed that I would need to pay a total of $650, including customs duties and other fees, to receive the product in Turkey. As I didn't have the extra funds, I informed the seller that I couldn't accept the delivery and wanted to return the product. However, the seller offered no assistance. I then appointed Alibaba as a mediator (Alibaba Case Number: 100023030327). Instead of supporting the customer, Alibaba sided with the seller, leaving me stranded. They repeatedly asked me to provide evidence. I submitted all relevant information and documents as proof to Alibaba. Despite this, Alibaba extended the process and requested further evidence. I complied and uploaded additional proof. There's a universally accepted commercial rule that customers have the right to return a product. By disregarding my right to a refund, Alibaba favors the seller and prolongs the process, causing me distress. I demand a resolution to this matter.
