My Zara Fabric Pants Tore After One Wash and the Store Refused to Refund Me

Just 10 days ago, I bought a pair of fabric trousers from a Zara store. After a single wash, the side seam completely unraveled, and the pants were visibly damaged. I took them back to the store to request a refund, only to be told by the store manager that it was my fault—claiming I washed them incorrectly.
I’ve been a homemaker for years and regularly shop from many reputable brands—never has a pair of pants fallen apart like this, especially after such light washing. The manager claimed fabric pants should be washed below 30°C and refused to take responsibility, even though the pants clearly had a sewing defect.
She insisted on sending the pants for alteration, even though there’s no seam allowance left, which could result in one side being tighter than the other. I gave them the pants, but I’ll measure the result when I get them back—and if there’s any issue, I will file a formal complaint against Form Bornova Zara and its manager.
