Yapı Kredi Charges $39 Annual Fee and Refuses to Waive It

I have been a loyal customer of Yapı Kredi Bank for many years, and I noticed that on March 16, 2026, a credit card annual fee of approximately $39 was charged to my Worldcard and reflected in my March 2026 statement. Since I do not wish to pay this fee under any circumstances, I contacted customer service and requested that it be canceled.
During the call, I was told that they could not waive the annual fee, but that if I accumulated reward points, they could offset the fee using those points. I clearly stated that I do not accept such an arrangement and that if the bank is willing to lose a 20–25 year customer over a $39 fee, they should go ahead and close my card.
However, I was told that my card could only be closed if I first paid the annual fee. In other words, regardless of the situation, the bank appears focused on collecting this fee while disregarding customer satisfaction.
First, I request a full refund of the approximately $39 annual fee, which I believe is unfair, and that my card be converted into a no-annual-fee card. If the bank continues to maintain this rigid and negative stance, then I request that my card be closed without requiring any payment.
My customer number is 29530687.
