I sent mail weeks ago, it’s still missing with USPS tracking silent — what’s happening?

If your USPS mail has weeks of silence on tracking, it doesn’t always mean it’s lost.

“In Transit” statuses can sit for many days when packages move between sorting hubs without being scanned, especially with busy facilities, technical glitches or transport delays.

Most tracking updates occur when USPS scans at each stop, and long gaps (often 24–48 hours) are common before a new scan appears.

However, once there’s no movement for 7+ days, it’s reasonable to suspect a significant delay or missing mail, and you should start taking action.

First, double-check your tracking number on the USPS Tracking page; then contact your local post office with that number and ask them to look up the item in their system.

If the issue persists, share your experience and consider filing a complaint on Xolvie to seek a resolution.
