Unauthorized In-App Purchases in Hungry Shark World by Ubisoft

April 11, 2024 1:42 PM23

Our 4.5-year-old son made multiple unauthorized purchases in the Hungry Shark World game by Ubisoft, which we downloaded for free from the Apple Store. These transactions occurred without our knowledge or any notification from the Apple Store. We discovered the issue on the same day and immediately contacted Apple customer service, filed a report, and requested a refund. Today, we were informed that the refund could not be processed. Despite our further appeals, Apple has not provided the support we expected, only stating that the matter will be re-evaluated.

It is alarming that a child can make purchases so easily within a game, suggesting that Ubisoft and Apple Store might be collaborating to profit unethically from unsuspecting users. Selling the same content multiple times without warnings or approval falls under Ubisoft's responsibility, in my opinion. We seek support in addressing this unfair situation and request a resolution for the inconvenience caused.
