Sunglass Hut Cepa AVM Refuses Refund for Discolored YSL Sunglasses

On May 27, 2026, I purchased a pair of Yves Saint Laurent sunglasses (Stock Code: Ysl000914) valued at 24,000 TRY as part of a 45,686 TRY purchase at the Sunglass Hut store in Ankara Cepa AVM.

After wearing the sunglasses only 4 to 5 times during a holiday, the frame developed severe matting, dullness, and surface discoloration along the contact points on my temples and face. I do not wear makeup and applied only standard sunscreen. Using the official cleaning fluid and microfiber cloth provided at purchase failed to remove the stains or restore the finish.

I returned to the Cepa AVM store to request warranty support. The branch manager admitted ignorance regarding the defect, accepted the item for technical inspection, and promised updates via SMS or phone. After two weeks of total silence, I visited the branch in person, where staff dismissively informed me that the claim was rejected as "user error," speculatively suggesting that exposure to sunlight caused the frame damage.

Furthermore, the rejection document provided was incomplete, lacking technical details or dates, and received a store stamp and signature only after I demanded it. Expecting a 24,000 TRY luxury pair of sunglasses to withstand routine summer wear and sun exposure without frame deterioration is a fundamental baseline of product quality.

Selling defective luxury goods and relying on unsubstantiated "user error" claims violates basic consumer protection standards regarding merchantable quality.

I demand a full refund of 24,000 TRY for this defective product under consumer rights regulations.
