Unable to Permanently Delete Snapchat Account Despite Multiple Attempts

I deleted my Snapchat account a long time ago, but I keep receiving email notifications about new friend requests. When I try to permanently delete the account, it says to try again after 72 hours. However, I get the same message every time I attempt to delete it. Why is it so difficult to remove an account for an app I no longer want to use? I just want my account to be completely deleted. Please take the necessary steps to resolve this issue.
