In January 2025, I received my brand-new 2024 model Skoda Octavia, but I quickly encountered an unexpected problem: the key fob battery drains within just 3 to 4 weeks. After changing the battery myself several times, I finally took my vehicle to Gebze Aykan Otomotiv for service. They claimed that my replacements failed because I hadn’t performed the required calibration, and assured me that after calibrating the key, the issue would be resolved.
However, despite their calibration, the new battery they installed depleted in only 10 days. I returned to the service center, where they suggested that I should alternate between the main and spare keys. They said if the issue persisted with the spare key, they would replace the faulty key or both. Unfortunately, the spare key experienced the exact same battery drain in 3 to 4 weeks.
I brought my car back to Gebze Aykan Otomotiv on June 23, where it remained for one week. On June 30, they returned the car, stating that they found no fault with either the keys or the vehicle. Yet when I questioned whether it was normal for a key battery to drain in 3 to 4 weeks (or just 10 days with their own battery), they admitted it wasn’t, but still insisted that no technical fault could be found.
This ongoing issue has caused me significant frustration and inconvenience. I expected durable components and responsive after-sales service from Skoda, yet I am left with unreliable keys that require constant battery replacements. I request that Skoda immediately replace both keys and conduct a full inspection of the vehicle’s electronic systems to permanently resolve this problem.
I urge Skoda to take ownership of this recurring issue and deliver a lasting solution without further delays.
