Samsung Falsely Advertises QN70F Edge-Lit TV as Mini-LED and Ignores Defects

Samsung Falsely Advertises QN70F Edge-Lit TV as Mini-LED and Ignores Defects

I purchased my Samsung QN70F TV from Vatan about 3 months ago. We had previously bought a TCL C7K TV from Vatan as well; that unit had a blemish in one corner of the screen, but the overall picture quality was very good. We returned it due to that corner spot. While checking out the QN70F model, I was told that the panels were identical, the only difference was the brightness, and I was convinced to choose this product because "they are both QN mini-LEDs anyway." I am not complaining about the Vatan employee because, since Samsung also markets this TV as a mini-LED, the employee couldn't have known the panel is actually edge-lit; my real complaint is with Samsung.

Since the very first day I got the TV, I have been experiencing picture issues. Especially in dark scenes and during the backlight bleed tests I ran, light bleeding is visible on the screen, and over time, pixelated, square-like grid areas began to appear at the top of the screen, distorting the normal image. These grid artifacts aren't always visible; sometimes they are very prominent, and other times they don't appear at all. To demonstrate this, I have attached photos showing moments both with and without the grid artifacts, as well as a photo showing the white spot that forms on a dark screen.

About a month after noticing the square-like picture distortions, I dropped the TV off at the authorized service center. When I first noticed the problems and tried to get support from Samsung service, they demanded a $21 fee for a home visit before even looking at the TV. When I finally took the TV to the service center, they looked at it for only 5 minutes in a brightly lit room without doing a detailed inspection and sent it back without taking any action, simply telling me, "If you wanted true blacks, you should have bought an OLED." I am filing a complaint against the local Samsung authorized service center because of both the technical issues I am experiencing with the product and this dismissive attitude.

I demand that Samsung take it seriously that the QN70F model TV turned out to be edge-lit despite being advertised as a mini-LED, and address the square picture distortions and backlight bleeding on the screen. To resolve my grievance, my primary demand is a full refund of the purchase price; if that is not possible, I want a free replacement with a model that has genuine local dimming and specifications no lower than this one. Furthermore, I request that a proper investigation be conducted into this indifferent and condescending behavior by the authorized service center, and that I be notified of the results.
