My Philips TV Damaged in Turkey Earthquake, No Warranty Coverage
On 15 July 2022, I purchased a Philips television that was subsequently damaged by an earthquake. The customer service representatives refused to cover the damage, despite the TV being under warranty, and instead offered a replacement screen that cost nearly as much as the entire television. I was informed that the high price of the screen was due to its high cost of production and that nothing could be done to assist me. The TV was purchased for 10,404 TL, and the replacement screen was quoted at 9,550 TL. This is an outrageously high price, and I feel that Philips is taking advantage of me during these difficult times. The fact that they are charging such a high price for a single part that costs more than half the price of the entire TV shows that the company is being managed by individuals who are unethical and lack moral values. I did not request a free replacement screen, but I did ask that the price be reduced. However, Philips representatives have been ineffective in resolving the issue. I urge the company to demonstrate compassion and provide a fair and reasonable solution for my broken television.
