MG4 iSmart Update Removed My Ability to Set the Charging Limit
I own a 2023 MG4 Luxury, and after MG replaced the vehicle's original software with the iSmart system, I lost access to one of the most important features of my electric vehicle. Before the update, I could easily set the battery charging limit directly from the vehicle's infotainment system. Now, my car is permanently limited to 80% charging, and I can no longer change that setting through either the vehicle's display or the mobile app.
This issue began after the software update that was installed around July 2025. Since then, customer access to the iSmart software has effectively been disabled. For nearly two years, I have repeatedly been told that the system is still "under development," yet no timeline or permanent solution has ever been provided. Despite contacting MG customer service and authorized representatives numerous times, I have received nothing more than requests to continue waiting.
A manufacturer should not remove or restrict features that were originally available to customers through a software update without providing an equivalent or improved alternative. The ability to set the battery charging limit is an essential function for electric vehicle owners because it directly affects battery management and daily usability.
I request that MG urgently restore my ability to adjust the battery charging limit myself and re-enable full customer access to the iSmart software and its features. I also expect MG to provide a clear explanation of when this functionality will be restored and a permanent solution that returns the capabilities originally included with my vehicle.
