Mercedes C200 Steering Rack Problem Keeps Returning
Although my 2023 Mercedes-Benz C200 is still covered by its 2+2-year warranty, I have been dealing with a recurring steering rack problem since January 2025. Despite multiple repair attempts, this chronic defect has never been permanently resolved.
Because of this issue, I took my vehicle to Mercedes-Benz Gülsoy Florya, an authorized service center, on two separate occasions. Each time, I was told the problem had been fixed and the vehicle was returned to me. However, the steering condition became even worse after each visit. When I brought the vehicle back for a third repair, I was unexpectedly told that my warranty had supposedly expired because my second scheduled maintenance had not been completed on time.
This explanation is unacceptable. During the maintenance period in January and February, my vehicle was already at the same authorized service center for this recurring steering issue, where diagnostic work and test drives were performed. It is the responsibility of an authorized Mercedes-Benz service center to review the vehicle's maintenance schedule and notify the customer if scheduled service is due. When I raised this issue, the service representatives acknowledged that they had made a mistake and agreed that my complaint was justified.
In addition, the vehicle's own maintenance reminder did not appear until four days ago, meaning I was still within the applicable maintenance window. The service center also acknowledged this and stated they would contact Mercedes-Benz headquarters on my behalf before accepting the vehicle for service. Despite this, my vehicle has now remained at the dealership for approximately 10 days without any repair work being completed.
My inconvenience continues to grow each day. Although my vehicle has been sitting at the service center without progress, I have not been provided with a loaner vehicle, creating significant transportation difficulties. When I contacted Mercedes-Benz Customer Service to clarify the situation, representatives repeatedly ended the calls by claiming they could not hear me, preventing any meaningful communication. I find this level of customer service unacceptable for a premium automotive brand.
I request that Mercedes-Benz immediately resolve my complaint by permanently repairing the steering rack, honoring my 2+2-year warranty as originally promised, and providing me with a loaner vehicle without further delay. If this matter is not resolved promptly, I intend to pursue all available legal remedies using my service records, repair history, test drive documentation, and the service center's own statements acknowledging their error.
