I am the first owner of a Mercedes C200d, and at just 141,000 km, mechanics are telling me that the engine is completely worn out, and the differential is making a terrible noise. The car has been plagued with issues for years: persistent AdBlue errors, coolant loss, severe oil consumption, and a sunroof that has malfunctioned multiple times. Now, everyone is saying the engine is done.
How can a vehicle with only 141,000 km have such severe differential and engine problems? I have a Suzuki with 680,000 km that has never needed a differential replacement. Yet, with Mercedes, a supposedly premium brand, I’m dealing with a failing engine and differential at a fraction of that mileage.
What’s even more frustrating is that the authorized service centers just shrug it off, saying they can’t help. Mercedes has created a problematic engine, and there’s no recall or acknowledgment of these widespread issues. This is incredibly disappointing for such a reputable brand. Where is the accountability?
