Meetic Charged My Card Without My Consent

I was really worried to find out that Meetic had been taking money out of my account for several months, even though I had never joined up for their service or used their site. Before I saw the charges on my bank statement, I had never heard of Meetic. There was no apparent way to get in touch with them when I went to hunt them up. There was no customer care number or genuine support email, just vague links that didn't take me somewhere useful. It was scary not to be able to directly question or reject these claims. In the end, I had to ban my Visa card so they couldn't take any more money. I feel used and absolutely defenseless after this whole thing.
