I booked a connected flight from Ankara to Munich and Munich to JFK through Skyscanner. Despite having a connection, I couldn’t check in online for either leg of the journey. On my outbound flight, I was able to get my Lufthansa boarding pass at the Sunexpress counter in Munich, which was a relief.
However, the return flight was a disaster! When I approached the Lufthansa counter, they told me they couldn’t issue a boarding pass for my Sunexpress connection. As a result, I had to leave the airport in Munich, go through all the security checks again, and find the Sunexpress counter to get my boarding pass. It was an unbelievable hassle!
The strangest part is that my luggage was transferred seamlessly between flights, but I couldn’t get myself transferred in the same way. Thankfully, I had a visa to enter Germany, but I can’t imagine what would have happened if I didn’t.
I was thoroughly disappointed with Lufthansa—from the poor check-in operations to the subpar in-flight meals. The online website didn’t work properly either. I will never book a similar flight again, especially if it involves Lufthansa.
