I booked a Lufthansa flight from Izmir to Seattle scheduled for May 18, 2025. The first leg of my journey, from Izmir to Munich, is operated by Lufthansa’s codeshare partner, SunExpress. Despite both airlines being "partners," I was unable to complete the check-in for the SunExpress-operated segment through Lufthansa’s system. This has caused serious inconvenience.
The airlines claim to be working together, but in practice they operate entirely separately, leaving passengers like me stuck in the middle with no support. It's incredibly stressful when you're trying to catch a long-haul international connection, especially to the U.S. I'm now being forced to physically go to the airport just to check in the day before my flight and hope nothing else goes wrong.
If you're planning a trip to the U.S., I strongly advise against booking a Lufthansa ticket that includes a SunExpress leg. This disjointed partnership creates unnecessary stress, and Lufthansa takes no responsibility for the inconvenience caused.
Lufthansa needs to ensure that passengers can check in smoothly for all segments of their trip—especially those involving partner airlines. I demand immediate action to fix this fragmented booking and check-in process.
