On June 9, 2023, we had a connecting flight from Poland to Finland to Tokyo scheduled to depart at 7:10 AM. When we entered the ticket line at 5:20 AM, airline staff pulled us aside and refused to let us board, claiming that we did not have a visa. When we contacted the consulate, we were clearly informed that because we were transiting, a visa was not required and that we were allowed to travel as transit passengers. Despite this, we were denied boarding. As a result, round-trip tickets for two people, hotel reservations, and all related travel plans were lost, causing us a total financial loss of approximately $1,150. We have been unable to find any responsible point of contact, and no one has shown any interest in resolving the situation. Tomorrow, we will return to Istanbul Airport to obtain written documentation explaining the reason we were denied boarding, after which we will proceed with legal action. I urge everyone to be extremely cautious.
