LC Waikiki Denied Refund for a Defective, Odorless Perfume
I purchased a perfume as part of LC Waikiki’s “40% off on purchases over $35” campaign. The perfume’s original price was $10, and I paid $6 after a $4 discount. Because the perfume had no scent at all, I went to the LC Waikiki Yalova Gazipaşa Street branch, men’s section, basement floor (-1), and requested a return from the customer representative.
The staff member sprayed the perfume on their hand and claimed that it had a smell. I insisted that the product was supposed to be a long-lasting perfume but was completely odorless, like water. The staff member said that I was returning it simply because I did not like it. When I insisted, they called a supervisor. The so-called supervisor also sprayed the perfume and claimed that it had a scent, while I again stated that it did not. The supervisor then said they would not accept the return because the box was missing and the product had been opened, and sarcastically asked whether they should spray it on every customer one by one. They then told me to apply to the Consumer Arbitration Committee.
As a result of this attitude, especially from a company where I had spent $70 on shopping, and due to the supervisor’s condescending and humiliating tone instead of offering a solution, I decided to apply to the Consumer Arbitration Committee. However, because it was Saturday and the office was closed, I had to turn back from the door. That is why I decided to write this complaint here.
I firmly claim that perfumes sold under the name of a discount campaign are stale and odorless. If I were returning the product simply because I did not like it, I would not have opened the packaging or thrown away the box. How could I possibly know the product was defective without opening it?
