Kenwood Blender Motor Burns Out Under Warranty as Service Center Demands $116 Fee
I purchased a Kenwood BLM45 smoothie blender set with a 2-year warranty covering both the product and the motor. While using the product normally, smoke suddenly began coming out of the device during operation one day, and the motor burned out. The failure occurred on June 18, 2026, and the appliance was sent to an authorized service center on the exact same day.
Regarding my service request, I was directed to the Yenile Teknoloji A.Ş. service center in Kocaeli Çayırova. There, I was told that the motor burned out due to overuse and overheating, that it shouldn't get too hot, and that I shouldn't use it so much. They then quoted a fee of approximately $116 (4,052.64 TRY) for a motor replacement. I refuse to accept being charged for a motor that failed within the warranty period, especially when a 2-year motor warranty was explicitly provided at the time of purchase.
I wanted to speak directly with the technicians at the service center who inspected the product to obtain more detailed information and explain my situation, but they hung up the phone on me. Furthermore, I was met with unprofessional statements unbecoming of an official representative, such as "If you hadn't used it so much, you wouldn't have turned the inside into charcoal." Even though there was no warning in the user manual or on the packaging stating that it should only be operated for a specific number of seconds or minutes, the product was never run for more than 2 minutes at a time. Since I did not manufacture the motor myself, I do not believe a manufacturing-related overheating defect should be blamed on the consumer.
Under the motor warranty explicitly promised to me at purchase, I demand that the motor be replaced at no charge, or that the product be acknowledged as defective and a full refund be issued. Additionally, I request a recall of this evidently defective product line and an investigation into the rude and accusatory conduct directed toward me.
