Jo Malone Refused My Unopened Perfume Exchange – Frustrating Customer Experience

I recently purchased a Jo Malone perfume with high expectations, following a recommendation from the sales associate. However, when I got home, I found that both I and my boyfriend disliked the scent. Disappointed, I returned to the Istinye store the next day with the unopened, carefully packaged product, hoping for an exchange. To my surprise, I was told that an exchange was not possible. They mentioned that if I had claimed the item was a gift, they could have issued a gift card for exchange, but because I bought it for myself, they refused. This feels like an inconsistent policy, changing based on arbitrary reasons. When I explained my situation, the response was dismissive: “You’ve already bought it, so there’s nothing we can do.”
I find this approach highly frustrating and unfair. It’s baffling that Jo Malone wouldn’t accommodate a simple exchange for an unopened product, especially given their reputation. I plan to hold onto this perfume as evidence and pursue my rights as a customer.
