Around two months ago, I noticed that the photo albums I created in my Apple gallery were completely deleted. The "Recently Added" album still contained photos, but the albums I personally organized were gone. Worse, all photos taken between March 4, 2024, and July 13, 2024, disappeared entirely. Strangely, photos from August 9, 2021, suddenly appeared in the gallery where the missing photos should have been. My gallery timeline now looks like this: March 4, 2024 - August 9, 2021 - July 13, 2024, which is obviously abnormal.
I am certain I didn’t delete these photos. They didn’t appear in the "Recently Deleted" album, and before this loss, my phone had 20-25 GB of free space. After the photos disappeared, the free space jumped to 143 GB, suggesting other data might also be missing. This is unacceptable, as these lost photos include irreplaceable memories of a friend and my grandfather, both of whom passed away during this time.
I contacted Apple Support immediately, explaining that this was likely a system error. The first agent followed the standard recovery procedure but couldn’t restore my data. I reached out two or three more times, but all they did was ask me to check the "Recently Deleted" album or retry the same recovery button.
Since my photos were synced with iCloud, I suspect the loss occurred there. A support agent even mentioned that Apple might delete data if iCloud storage is full, but how can a company delete user data without explicit consent? I regularly pay for iCloud storage and trusted Apple to keep my data safe.
This experience has been deeply disappointing. Apple Support has been irresponsible and ineffective, offering no real solutions beyond superficial steps. I expect a more professional and thorough investigation into this issue, and I demand the recovery of my lost photos and data. Apple, this is not the trust or service your customers expect!
