ING Bank Renewed My Home Insurance and Charged Me Without Approval
On December 4, 2024, ING Bank’s Dikmen branch arranged a private credit home insurance policy (Policy Number: 29313612) linked to my mortgage loan without my consent or knowledge, charging me ₺4,911. I was told to visit the branch to address the issue. I am requesting the cancellation of this policy and a refund of the amount. I do not consent to any automatic renewal of such insurance policies and have not authorized any such arrangement. The policy was created without my approval as soon as funds became available in my account on December 4, 2024. Home package insurance can be issued and renewed annually only upon the loan user’s request, but I have made no such request. While earthquake insurance (DASK) is mandatory for homes or properties financed by loans, home insurance renewal must only occur if requested by the loan holder. Such policies should not be forcefully charged. As stated in Article 38 of the Consumer Protection Law No. 6502, no insurance transactions can be carried out without the consumer’s explicit consent. Based on this, I demand the cancellation of the private home insurance policy (Policy Number: 29313612) issued without my knowledge or consent and the refund of the charged amount. A policy for which I have not given explicit approval cannot be arranged or charged automatically.
