Etsy Suspended My Store and Deducted $250 Unfairly, Need Resolution

I had a successful Etsy store with careful attention to shipping and order fulfillment. Recently, I shipped a two-part order to the U.S., spending €150 on shipping costs for an item I sold for $240, which already cost me $120 to produce. Despite normally avoiding U.S. shipments, I fulfilled this order to accommodate the buyer.

The buyer later complained that the plug wasn’t suitable for the U.S. We offered a free replacement, but they insisted on keeping the item and receiving a full refund. When we refused, they reported us to Etsy, which immediately deducted $250 from my account as a negative balance. Despite contacting Etsy to explain the situation and providing tracking numbers promptly, I’ve received no response for two days.

This unfair deduction is unacceptable, and the lack of communication from Etsy is frustrating. I expect Etsy to review this case fairly, resolve the issue promptly, and restore my account balance. Sellers should not be penalized for unreasonable buyer demands, especially after fulfilling all responsibilities. I urge others to reconsider shipping to the U.S. due to such risks.

I have been selling on the platform called Etsy for 2 years, with a monthly revenue reaching $7,000. Despite this, they suspended my account, claiming it had a negative balance of $27, even though there was $300 in active funds in the account. This is a platform that refunds customers without question and deducts the amount directly from the seller, a policy that many customers exploit, leaving sellers working for free. They have no customer service, no phone support, and not even a representative in Turkey, despite having the largest number of sellers globally in this country. When a customer sends a message, their refund is processed within a minute, but as a seller, you are left waiting for days for a response. The management system is absolutely disgraceful!
