Dolce & Gabbana Sunglasses Coating Peels Off and Blurs Vision
On March 31, 2025, I purchased two pairs of sunglasses from the Sunglass Hut store at Ankamall in Ankara. One of them was a Dolce & Gabbana pair with product code 0DG4384, which I paid $201 for. Within just two months, the coating on the sunglasses began peeling. When I was in Ankara in August, I sent the product in for inspection. The company acknowledged that the problem was their fault and sent me a replacement. However, when I started using the replacement at the beginning of the season, the same peeling problem occurred again.
The peeling is directly within my line of sight, especially while driving or reading, and it causes my vision to become blurry even though my eyes are healthy. I sent the sunglasses for another inspection through the Sunglass Hut store at Piazza Samsun in June and specifically explained that while some minor scratches on the glasses might have been caused by me, the main issue was the peeling that was obstructing my vision. However, the company simply returned the sunglasses to me and claimed that the problem was not caused by a manufacturing defect.
There is no way I could have caused this peeling. I have never sprayed perfume or any similar product onto my face while wearing the sunglasses. If that had been the cause, the coating should also have peeled in other areas of the sunglasses. I am certain that this was not caused by misuse, and I am willing to have the product undergo any type of inspection, including an expert examination if necessary. Only part of the problem is visible in the photo, but I have still attached it to my complaint.
I do not want to purchase a third pair of sunglasses from the same company. Therefore, I request a direct refund of the amount I paid rather than a store credit or exchange voucher. Considering that I paid the equivalent of 2.5 grams of gold for these sunglasses at the time, I should not have had to experience problems like this.
Additionally, I would like to mention that Mr. M***, who was incredibly polite when I made a $20,000 purchase at the Ankamall Sunglass Hut, was unable to speak to me respectfully even over the phone once the issue turned into a potential manufacturing defect. I will never shop with this company again. Their priority does not appear to be providing proper customer service.
