Unlawful Deposit Retention by Avalon Car Rental on Discovery Cars Booking

9

On June 5, 2026, I collected a rental vehicle reserved through the Discovery Cars platform from the Surprice Rent A Car office operating under Avalon Car Rental in Antalya Aksu. During vehicle pick-up, a security deposit of 69,500 TRY was charged to my credit card.

On June 7, 2026, I returned the vehicle in its original condition with zero damage, defects, or additional fee requirements. Upon return, representatives explicitly stated that the 69,500 TRY deposit would be released within 21 business days.

More than 50 days have passed since the return date, and the 69,500 TRY deposit remains unreturned. Repeated phone calls and messaging communications with Surprice Rent A Car yielded persistent stalling, contradictory excuses, and a total refusal to issue payment documentation or execute the transfer. Holding consumer funds long after the fulfillment of contractual obligations constitutes an unlawful retention of money and a direct breach of consumer protection laws.

I demand that Discovery Cars, Surprice Rent A Car, and Avalon Car Rental immediately refund the full deposit amount of 69,500 TRY along with statutory accrued interest. Failure to process this payment immediately will result in formal regulatory filings and legal recourse against both the supplier and the broker platform.
