DeepL Translate Charged USD 344.88 After Cancellation — Refund Requested

1

I am an individual consumer and I am writing regarding an issue with my DeepL Pro annual subscription. I did not receive any advance email warning that my subscription would renew. The only notification I received stated that payment could not be collected from my card. After seeing this, I signed in on 21 October 2026, switched my account to the Basic option and cancelled my subscription. Despite this, USD 344.88 was charged to my card on 22 October 2026, the day after my cancellation. DeepL confirmed to me in writing that my cancellation was recorded on 21 October and that the successful collection occurred on 22 October. However, the company refused my refund request, stating that the renewal invoice had been generated before cancellation and that I had accepted the terms at the time of my original subscription. I believe the charge may have been taken from a different card than my primary one, while DeepL has stated that both payment attempts were made to the same card. I have asked DeepL to provide transaction records to clarify this discrepancy. I have also requested records showing if and how any renewal notice was delivered, the legal and contractual basis for storing and charging my card, and an explanation of why switching to Basic and cancelling on 21 October did not prevent the collection on 22 October. On 28 October 2026, I provided additional information and my support case was reopened. At this stage, no refund has been approved. I am requesting a transparent review of this situation, supported by the relevant records, and a full refund of USD 344.88 to the card that was charged. I will update this complaint if and when the matter is resolved.
