Corendon Airlines Denied Boarding and Refund for Missed Flight

3

On 1 July 2026, I was scheduled to travel with Corendon Airlines on flight under reservation code H5AAYC from Amsterdam Schiphol Airport (AMS) to İzmir Adnan Menderes Airport (ADB). I arrived at the airport and joined the Corendon check‑in queue approximately two hours before the scheduled departure time. Although the check‑in counters were open, passengers for at least three different flights to Turkey were directed to stand in the same queue. There was no clear separation or guidance for the different flights, and no specific information was provided about the closing time of the check‑in for the İzmir flight. When it finally became my turn at the counter, I was informed that the check‑in for the İzmir flight had already been closed 15 minutes earlier and I was denied boarding on that basis. During this time, no announcement or audible warning was made in the waiting area regarding the imminent closure of the check‑in for the İzmir flight, nor was I personally called or warned, even though I had been in the queue in good time. Despite denying me boarding on the ground that the check‑in had closed, the aircraft departed with approximately a 30‑minute delay. I consider this situation to constitute a case of denied boarding within the meaning of Regulation (EC) No 261/2004, as I was present at the airport well before the required time, was in the airline’s check‑in queue, and was not allowed to board due to organizational shortcomings and lack of proper information, not due to any fault or delay on my side. As a direct consequence of being denied boarding, I had to purchase a new ticket with SunExpress for the same route Amsterdam–İzmir on 1 July 2026, at a cost of 16,510.69 TRY, as evidenced by the attached reservation document. This was an additional and unexpected expense caused entirely by Corendon’s handling of the check‑in and boarding process. In light of the above and pursuant to Regulation (EC) No 261/2004 on air passenger rights, I request a full refund of the outbound leg of my original Corendon ticket for the Amsterdam–İzmir flight, as well as monetary compensation of €400 for denied boarding. I kindly ask you to evaluate my case urgently, provide a written response, and arrange payment of the requested refund and compensation to me without further delay.
