Columbia Plateau Waterproof Shoes Failed Waterproofing Feature

On April 5, 2024, I purchased the Columbia Plateau Waterproof men’s shoes (Order No. 466884) for ₺3,999.95 through the Columbia website. I trusted the listed features, particularly the omni-tech™ waterproof claim, believing the product would meet its stated promises.

I first wore the shoes in the winter season and used them 3-4 times. Despite no visible damage or deformation, I noticed they allowed water to seep through the inner lining, proving the waterproof claim to be false. This failure to deliver on advertised features reflects poorly on Columbia's commitment to consumer trust and product integrity. My feet got soaked, and I was deeply disappointed.

On December 16, 2024, I sent the shoes for inspection, hoping for an exchange or refund. On December 27, I received the following response:
"We regret the negative experience you’ve had with your product. Upon inspection, the issue was not caused by a production or material defect. Unfortunately, we cannot accept your request. Your product will be returned to your address."

When I called customer service, they explained that “waterproof” only means water-resistant—a frustrating and misleading claim. Attempts to escalate the matter to the returns department led to repeated scripted responses offering no resolution.

If this issue is not resolved promptly with either a refund or product exchange, I will file a formal complaint with the Consumer Arbitration Board. Columbia’s website describes this product as offering “omni-tech™ waterproof breathable construction,” but my experience proves otherwise. Please take immediate action to address this matter.
