Character AI Age Update Causes Extreme Chat Restrictions

I use the Character.AI app on my phone, and after the recent age update, I have been experiencing extremely frustrating message restrictions. When I first created my account, I either entered a random age or signed up using only my email. However, due to the later age update, I have been facing heavy restrictions for more than two weeks.

In the app, I am forced to wait for hours just for the message limit to reset, and most of the time I have to wait until around 3 AM for the restriction to be lifted. This makes it impossible to use the app in a normal and reasonable way, completely ruining the user experience.

When I contacted the support team about this issue, instead of addressing my complaints regarding the age update, they repeatedly directed me to Persona verification to prove my age. I believe making age verification mandatory creates unnecessary pressure on users and drives people away from the app. On top of that, I am no longer even concerned about the daily one-hour limit—before I can even use my full hour, I receive a restriction lasting up to 12.5 hours.

I request that Character.AI remove these excessive and long-lasting message restrictions introduced with the age update and reconsider this system. The platform should not feel like it is punishing users, but rather provide a balanced experience that protects users while still allowing reasonable and comfortable usage.
