CamScanner App Attempts Unauthorized $12 Charge on Expired Credit Card
Starting from April 4, 2026, I began receiving SMS messages from Garanti BBVA regarding the CamScanner app, which I do not recall when I previously installed on my Android phone. The messages stated that my transaction of $12 on April 4, 2026, under "Google camsca" using my Paracard Bonus card ending in ... could not be approved because the card's expiration date was incorrect, and that if my card had been renewed, I could try again with the new card. Although this payment attempt is being declined because my card has expired, there is no explicit consent given by me nor any active subscription that I am aware of.
When I check through my Google accounts and Play Store subscriptions, no active subscription or membership related to CamScanner appears. The app is currently not even installed on my phone. Looking at user reviews, I saw that many users were charged after a 3-day trial period; I do not even remember starting such a trial, and I have no record of installing this app, especially within the past year.
It deeply disturbs me that recurring or one-time payment attempts are being made on my card without my explicit consent, knowledge, or authorization. If there is a CamScanner subscription or membership created under my name, I demand its immediate termination, the cancellation of all payment attempts on my card, and a clear, written explanation regarding how and on what grounds these transactions were initiated. I do not accept any unauthorized charges.
