Busuu Auto-Renewed a Subscription Without My Consent

I was charged for a Busuu subscription that was activated without my knowledge or consent. I only discovered the subscription on June 26, 2026, when I happened to review the automatic payments from my Halkbank account. The subscription had reportedly started on May 21, 2026. What makes this even more concerning is that I do not even have a Busuu account registered under any of my email addresses, yet my account was still charged.

So far, $6 has already been deducted from my account, and my current bill shows another $6 charge that has not yet been collected. This leaves me facing a total of $12 in subscription charges. I also learned that the subscription is set to renew automatically. I believe charging customers through automatic renewals without obtaining clear and informed consent is unfair and misleading.

I contacted Busuu as soon as I discovered the issue, but I have not received any response. I request that this unauthorized subscription be canceled immediately, that the $6 already charged be fully refunded, and that the additional $6 pending charge not be collected. I also ask Busuu to ensure that subscriptions cannot be activated or renewed without a user's explicit authorization.
