British Town Izmir Buca Refuses Course Withdrawal Refund
Hello, on January 31, 2024, I registered at the British Town Izmir Buca branch. We agreed on a registration fee of ₺24,500, and I paid ₺4,500 in cash on the registration day, receiving a receipt. I informed them that I would pay the remaining amount on the day I started classes, and this was accepted. On February 1, 2024, I decided not to attend the course. I went to the branch and expressed my wish to exercise my right of withdrawal from the contract. However, I was told that I had no right to withdraw from the contract that I had to pay the full amount even though I had not started classes, and that the upfront fee was non-refundable with no option for registration cancellation. They said I could only leave due to force majeure. I read the contract aloud to them, and it states that only 10% of the agreed amount for registration cancellation will be refunded. However, the staff told me that such a provision did not exist, and they presented ridiculous arguments such as "find someone to take your place or bring a certificate of poverty" and said that my money would not be refunded. Everything was fine until I registered; they treated me very well, but when it came to our rights, they didn't care at all and did not offer any solutions. They are blatantly acting unlawfully and against the Constitution. I will send a notice of contract withdrawal through a notary and report to Consumer Rights, resorting to all legal means to defend my rights. Absolutely do not enroll in this language course.
