After five years, I had it replaced and continued using it for another three years. Then I was diagnosed with breast cancer, and a cyst was also found in my uterus. It releases synthetic hormones daily, and long-term exposure has been linked to cancer. I wanted to take legal action, but I learned that in my country, an expert medical opinion is required. Unfortunately, no doctors were willing to provide a written statement, as they feared consequences due to their ties with pharmaceutical companies. However, several doctors confirmed my suspicions verbally — they agreed that the Mirena IUD was likely responsible. I have gone through a very difficult treatment process.
