I Face Rejected Refund for Bauhaus Garden Cabinet That Melted Under Sun Exposure
I purchased a garden cabinet from Bauhaus, which was delivered to me on May 29. Less than two months later—on July 20—I filed a complaint because the cabinet had started to melt and warp under direct sunlight. I documented the issue with detailed photos and videos, clearly showing the product was no longer usable for outdoor conditions.
Despite the obvious damage, Bauhaus responded by saying the product was delivered to me “undamaged” and therefore they would not accept a return. That logic completely ignores the fact that a garden cabinet should be designed to withstand sunlight, especially if it’s marketed for outdoor use.
I consider this a serious product flaw and an unacceptable denial of my consumer rights. I demand that Bauhaus immediately take back the defective cabinet and issue a full refund. If this is not resolved promptly, I will pursue all available legal channels to enforce my rights as a customer. I trusted this brand for quality—what I received was far from it.
Progress
I purchased a Toohmax brand garden cabinet online from Bauhaus. I only used the product for 2 months after assembling it, and in this short period, the side parts of the cabinet started to melt and warp due to the sun. Because of this melting and warping on the side panels, the inner shelves came off, the items I placed on them scattered, and some of them broke and became unusable.
I used the product in the garden, next to a wall, in an area that receives very little sunlight. As soon as I experienced the problem, I contacted the company, a complaint record was created, and I also sent them a video of the product. However, I was told that a return is not possible because the product was opened and assembled. It is unacceptable for a product sold as garden furniture to melt from the sun in just 2 months; I also do not find the response reasonable.
Also, there is absolutely no warning in the product manual or anywhere else stating 'not to be used in the garden.' On the contrary, the product is called a garden cabinet and there are places on the doors to attach a padlock for outdoor use. The advertisements also clearly show the product being used in the garden.
I request that this product, for which I paid 2,750 TL, be taken back by your company and my money refunded.
