In 2017, I purchased a brand new Arçelik 2498 CNIY A++ model refrigerator. After 7 years, it stopped cooling properly, so I called the authorized service. The technician informed me that my refrigerator had a gas leak, causing the body to bulge, and it could not be repaired. They suggested that I purchase a new refrigerator with a discounted price, but I would still have to pay ₺22,228.
It is unacceptable for a durable consumer good like a refrigerator to malfunction to an irreparable extent in just 7 years, as the expected lifespan of refrigerators is 10 years. Even if the manufacturer's warranty expires, they are obligated to provide maintenance and repair services for the full 10-year period. However, the authorized service claimed that the refrigerator could not be repaired due to the bulging body.
I do not have the financial means to purchase a new refrigerator at such a high price, even with a discount, after my 7-year-old refrigerator became unusable. I demand that Arçelik reduce the replacement cost to a more reasonable and acceptable level. Otherwise, I will take legal action against the manufacturer for failing to provide the 10-year maintenance and repair service I am entitled to, by filing a complaint with the Consumer Arbitration Board and Consumer Court.
