Amazon Duplicate Account Preventing Access To My Original Profile
I am writing regarding an ongoing and very frustrating issue with my Amazon customer service experience in the United States. By mistake, I created a second Amazon account using my personal email address, patr******@gmail.com, on my cell phone. My original and main Amazon account is linked to my former work email address, pn***@laverne.edu, which is no longer active because I recently retired. I want to keep my original account and simply update the email on that account from pn***@laverne.edu to my personal email address. However, when I try to change the email on my original account, the system says that patr****@gmail.com is already in use. This is because it is currently tied to the second, unintended account that I have been trying to cancel. In the last three weeks, I have spoken verbally with customer service on two separate occasions and clearly requested that the second account associated with patr****@gmail.com be cancelled so that I can use this address on my original account. Despite these contacts, the duplicate account has not been cancelled, and the problem remains unresolved. I also tried calling 1‑888‑280‑43**, but the call did not even ring, which added further to my frustration and concern about the level of customer service. I request that you immediately close and permanently delete the unintended Amazon account associated with patri***@gmail.com and then update the email address on my original account (currently tied to the inactive address pn**@laverne.edu) to my personal email address, patr***@gmail.com, so that I can continue using my longstanding Amazon account without interruption. I expect this issue to be resolved promptly, as the repeated failed attempts and lack of effective support do not reflect well on Amazon’s customer service.
