I thought it would be a good idea to test it here in my country to make sure everything works well. I tried to use Alipay to make a small payment, but I got an error message that said, "Sorry, this service only works for real-name mainland Chinese ID card users." That generally means that only people with a Chinese ID can use the service. I'm really worried about this—if it doesn't work here, will it not work when I try to pay in China?
