Alipay App Failed in My Country Due to Chinese ID Requirement

I set up Alipay ahead of time because I'm going on a short trip to China and want to be prepared. I registered for the app, tied it to my Mastercard, and went through the whole process of making sure my passport and face ID were real. I thought it would be a good idea to test it here in my country to make sure everything works well. I tried to use Alipay to make a small payment, but I got an error message that said, "Sorry, this service only works for real-name mainland Chinese ID card users." That generally means that only people with a Chinese ID can use the service. I'm really worried about this—if it doesn't work here, will it not work when I try to pay in China? I'm afraid this will throw off my plans and add extra stress to my trip.
