TCL Alcatel MT40X Repair Cost Nearly Matches New Smartwatch Price
The screen of my TCL Alcatel MT40X Movetime smartwatch was broken, and the SIM card slot was not working. One week ago, I sent the device to an authorized service center in Istanbul (Customer Number: 2502473522).
I was contacted by the service center and informed that they wanted $56 for the screen replacement, while the SIM card slot issue could be repaired free of charge because it was covered under warranty. However, even though I clearly stated that I only wanted the SIM card slot repaired, they told me they could not perform that repair unless I also paid for the screen replacement.
Considering that the current retail price of a brand-new watch is approximately $82, I do not accept being asked to pay $56 for repairs on a used device. I believe this charge is unreasonable and excessive. I am requesting that the warranty-covered SIM card slot be repaired free of charge as promised and that I not be forced to pay for an unnecessary screen replacement in order to receive warranty service.
