Albaraka Türk Closed My Account Without Reason After Opening
On 22 July 2026 I opened a TL account at Albaraka Türk, Taksim branch. After only a few days, on 31 July 2026, the bank suddenly closed my account and froze my money for about a week without giving me a clear reason. During this period my access to internet banking was also cancelled, as shown in the warning screen on the mobile application. During the process the staff at the Taksim branch were kind and polite to me, but I understood that the decisions about freezing and closing my account were coming from the head office, not from the branch employees themselves. After keeping my money blocked, the bank made me sign a written statement as if I myself had requested the closure of the account. I did not demand or request to close my account, and I clearly did not want my account to be terminated in this way. Despite this, they prepared a text stating that I wanted to close the account and made me sign it. Because of this situation I had to travel from Kocaeli to Taksim four times, losing both time and money, yet I still did not receive a satisfactory explanation about why my account was first frozen and then closed. I find it very unfair that a customer who has just opened an account is treated like this and practically forced to sign a closure request. I am sharing this experience so that other people are informed about the way Albaraka Türk Taksim branch handled my account and so that the bank head office reviews the decisions taken and the behaviour of the relevant units and prevents similar grievances in the future.
