I was called me from a +91 number asking for an OTP; how can I figure out what scam they were attempting?

A +91 number is associated with India, but the number alone does not establish where the caller really was.

Asking you to reveal an OTP fits vishing: India’s National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal defines it as phone fraud seeking credentials such as OTPs, PINs, passwords or card details.

To identify the likely target, check the OTP message without clicking links: its sender and wording may say whether the code was for a bank transaction, account login/password reset, new-device registration, UPI/payment authorization, or another service.
