I Was Blackmailed on WhatsApp by a Foreign Number

Recently, I was contacted on WhatsApp by a foreign number. The person claimed to have obtained a video of me and threatened to send it to my family and relatives unless I paid them money. I did not send any payment. The profile photo used by this individual was fake, and the phone number clearly belongs to a foreign country.

This is the first time I’ve experienced something like this, and it has been extremely disturbing. I haven’t yet filed an official complaint with the authorities or with WhatsApp, but I am requesting that WhatsApp take immediate action to prevent such incidents — particularly by restricting or monitoring the misuse of foreign numbers for harassment or extortion.

I expect stronger safety measures and better protection from WhatsApp to ensure user privacy and security.
