WeTransfer Charged Me Weekly Without Clear Subscription Approval

January 18 5:08 PM

I downloaded and used the WeTransfer application on December 21 only to transfer two video files. While installing the app, I simply created an account to log in. I did not intentionally select any premium membership, I did not clearly see a payment table, and I did not knowingly approve any subscription or membership confirmation screen. If such a pricing screen had been clearly presented to me, I would absolutely never have approved it, especially not for a package with such an extremely expensive weekly fee.

However, when I later checked my account, I realized that approximately $14 had been charged on December 28, another approximately $14 on January 4, another approximately $14 on January 11, and another approximately $14 on January 18, resulting in a total of approximately $56 charged from my account. Despite using the application only once on December 21 for two simple video transfers, it appears as if I was automatically enrolled into one of the most expensive and unreasonable subscription plans possible.

I consider these charges excessive, and I strongly believe that there was no transparent, understandable, or sufficiently clear information explaining how I was included in this subscription. During account creation and app usage, users should be warned much more clearly about payment and subscription steps, explicit approval should be required, and pricing details should transparently explain which package is selected, how often payments will be charged, and how much will be deducted.

I only intended to use the application for a short and limited purpose. Despite this, before even one month had passed, approximately $56 was withdrawn from my account. Because of this subscription process that operated without my clear awareness and far beyond my actual usage, I experienced serious financial inconvenience.

If there is a reasonable charge corresponding only to the very limited period during which I actually used the service, that may be understandable. However, I request a refund for the unused subscription weeks, corresponding to at least approximately $42 of the total amount charged.

I also request that WeTransfer review its subscription and payment confirmation process to prevent users from unintentionally being enrolled in expensive weekly subscription plans and refund the amount that I believe was unfairly charged from my account.
