Turkcell Doubled My Package Price Only 20 Days After Activation

When my Turkcell prepaid line was activated, I was enrolled in a monthly package costing approximately $16 USD, and I was specifically informed that this price would continue indefinitely without change. However, only 20 days after my line was activated, the package price was increased to approximately $32 USD without my additional approval or any prior notification.

When I contacted customer service, I was only told that there had been a “price update,” but no one explained why the increase happened or why I had not been informed beforehand. I do not accept that a package described as “indefinite” could have its price doubled in such a short period of time.

I also believe that the dealer who activated my line misled me. At the store, I was clearly told that the package price would remain fixed and continue indefinitely at the original amount. I specifically chose Turkcell based on this information. If I had been informed that the price could increase so dramatically after only a few weeks, I would never have accepted this package.

At this point, I do not consider it reasonable for a package containing only 20 GB of internet to cost approximately $32 USD per month. Increasing prices after customers begin using the line and after the short cancellation or objection period has passed effectively forces people into extremely expensive packages. I believe this is unfair to consumers and represents a serious abuse of trust.

Even though I have been a Turkcell customer for many years, this experience has left me extremely disappointed, and I now warn people around me to be very careful about these types of mobile packages and verbal promises made during activation.

I also believe that government authorities should strengthen oversight and sanctions against excessive price increases and consumer practices that create unfair financial burdens. These types of misleading package sales and sudden price changes should be clearly regulated and prevented.

I request that Turkcell restore my package price back to the original approximately $16 USD level and provide me with a clear written explanation regarding this process and the sudden price increase.
