Toyota Hilux AdBlue Issue and High Costs at Service Center
It seems that all customers are experiencing the Toyota PCS AdBlue malfunction. The service maintenance for the Toyota Hilux is scheduled every 10,000 km, but the AdBlue light turns on at 7,500 km. When you request an appointment from the service center, they give you a slot one week later. As a result, we purchase AdBlue from a quality gas station. Toyota sells AdBlue at four times the market price.
I left my vehicle at service center on Thursday, 01.08.2024. They said they couldn't connect the car to the computer because their systems were down. They promised to call me the next day (Friday) with an update. When they didn't call by the evening, I called them after 17:30 on Friday. They told me they had connected the car to the computer and that the AdBlue Pump and Tank needed to be replaced. I questioned why the tank needed replacement, and they said it was necessary. When I asked why they hadn't called earlier, they said they had connected the car to the computer four times and conducted road tests. When I asked for the solution, they said the AdBlue Pump and Tank needed to be replaced. Although I found it extremely expensive, I reluctantly agreed to the replacement. They told me the parts were not in stock and would take 30-40 days to arrive. I asked if Toyota Assist would provide a replacement vehicle if I waited that long. They said no, as my car hadn't broken down on the road and I had brought it to the service center myself. I then decided to cancel and take my car back to have it repaired elsewhere.
On Friday, 02.08.2024, they claimed to have conducted four road tests. However, when I checked the vehicle tracking system, I saw that the car hadn't been started that day. In other words, they wanted to replace the entire AdBlue system at an exorbitant price without even turning the ignition.
Conclusion: Toyota makes a good vehicle, but the service system is problematic.
