Telegram shows my account as deleted by itself, how can I restore my data?

If Telegram shows your account as deleted automatically, it usually means it was removed due to inactivity based on the self-destruct period set in Settings → Privacy and Security → Delete My Account If Away For.

Once this process completes, all chats, groups, channels, contacts, and media are permanently erased from Telegram’s servers and cannot be restored.

Telegram does not offer any recovery option for auto-deleted accounts, even through support, because the deletion is irreversible by design.

Creating a new account with the same phone number will not bring back old data, usernames, or channel ownership.

To prevent this in the future, create a new account and set the auto-delete period to the longest available option, then log in periodically on any device.

If your data is critical, regularly export chats using Telegram Desktop → Settings → Advanced → Export Telegram Data.

This is the information we have, but if you have more insights from your experience, please share in the comments.
