Telegram One-Time SMS Fee Forces Premium Purchase After Reinstall
I was using the Telegram app on my Android phone. After accidentally uninstalling the app, I reinstalled it today and tried to log in using my own phone number. However, every time I attempt to log in, I am shown a screen asking me to purchase a one-week Telegram Premium subscription for $1. I had previously logged in with the same phone number, and now I simply want to receive a verification code by SMS and log in normally.
My phone number is active and I can receive SMS messages, but instead of sending me a free verification code, the app shows a screen that appears to require me to pay a one-time SMS fee or purchase a Telegram Premium subscription. I do not want to purchase Premium just to use Telegram, and this fee is too expensive for me.
I am requesting that this mandatory payment screen be removed, that a free SMS verification code be sent to my phone number, and that I receive the necessary assistance to regain normal access to my account. If a more detailed investigation is required, I am willing to provide my phone number and other account-related information through a secure channel.
