Telegram Requires Payment After Free Reinstallation on Android
I want to install the Telegram app on my Android phone through Google Play. Although Telegram is a free app, I am being shown a payment screen for a “one-time SMS fee” and a Telegram Premium subscription. I had previously downloaded and used the app completely free of charge on this same device without any problems. After accidentally uninstalling it, I tried to reinstall it, but this time I was asked to make a payment.
I have not made any changes to the country, region, or payment method on my Google Play account, nor have I added a new card. Despite this, I do not understand why an app that I previously used for free is now being presented as if it requires payment and why I am being asked to pay in order to complete the setup. Being shown a payment screen for an app advertised as free is causing me problems and preventing me from using the app again.
I am asking Telegram and the relevant parties to make the necessary changes so that Telegram’s standard and basic service can be downloaded and used completely free of charge, and to remove this payment screen. I also request a clear and understandable explanation of why I am being shown this payment requirement and assistance so that I can download and use the app for free again.
